In the midst of COVID-19 lockdowns in Melbourne, Josephine began contemplating a career change. A passion for social justice and the desire to help others led her to the rewarding and challenging field of social work.

Social work graduate Priscilla did not take the traditional path to university. Instead, she had to overcome tragedy at a young age and her own self-doubts to don the graduation cap and gown. 

Dan is a qualified carpenter who worked in the construction industry for 15 years. A little soul-searching on a holiday saw him pluck up the courage to make a huge career change. 

Pratik has always had a passion for working with people. Now he is fulfilling that passion by working as a social worker with the NT Government. 

A proud Tiwi Islands man, Jahdai Vigona is giving back to his community through his work at the Menzies School of Health Research. By starting a VET traineeship, Jahdai not only became the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year, but he also opened up a world of opportunities for his future. 

When Chy took on a part-time role in the disability sector, it ignited a desire in her to study in the field and become a social worker. Now in her final year of a Master of Social Work, she’s grateful that she chose CDU. 

Community champion Ira is committed to making a positive contribution to society. With a particular affinity for LGBTIQA+ issues, he’s extremely passionate about mental health in youth. Thanks to his studies at CDU, he’s turned his passion into action.

When Yuliia first moved to Australia from Europe, she was forced to overcome many challenges. It was studying at Charles Darwin University that gave her a new lease on life and helped her to regain her confidence in the workforce.

After a challenging childhood in the Philippines, Lloyd wanted to dedicate his life to helping people in need. He found a way to do that through a degree in humanitarian aid at CDU.
